Muguruza Hopes to Put Injury Behind Her

Muguruza was going at a rollicking pace to kick-start the new season as she reached three hard court finals and won one title. Most of her losses came at the hands of top 10 players too, and at the end of hard-fought matches.

At the Yarra Valley Classic, for instance, Muguruza lost the title-decider to Ash Barty. She then fell to Naomi Osaka in the fourth round of the Australian Open. And there was a final defeat at Doha where she went down to Petra Kvitova.

It was at Dubai that Muguruza finally won a title and after handing Amanda Anisimova, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Elise Mertens defeats.

Her move to clay, however, hasn’t been that seamless, with Muguruza having to retire from the third round match at the Charleston Open because of a left knee issue and then losing the third round at Rome to Elina Svitolina.

While Muguruza was showing signs of getting back to her best in the first half of the season, her more recent form looks tentative. The Spaniard can still be expected to put up a fight but can she surprise a few at a tournament she had won back in 2016?

Kostyuk’s Featured in Two Semifinals

Kostyuk is all of 18 years of age but has already shown what she is capable of at the highest level. She reached the semifinal of two of the competitions this season, including her first of the year at Abu Dhabi and another one on the clays of the Istanbul Open.

Those deep runs aside, it was also how Kostyuk got there.

Wins over Sara Sorribes Tormo and Daria Kasatkina have meant she is slowly coming into her own, challenging some of the top opponents in the world.

Her last two tournament appearances haven’t done her justice though with Kostyuk failing to qualify for the Madrid Open and losing in the first round at Rome.

And now facing Muguruza, she will look to take inspiration from her win over Amanda Anisimova two years ago, who at that time was one of the biggest upcoming names in tennis.

Muguruza v Kostyuk Prediction and Tip

While Muguruza is 1/5 to win this, we believe her fitness concerns might allow Kostyuk to find a way to push the Spaniard. Might even grab a set.

Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
