Matteo Berrettini v Taro Daniel Head to Head
Berrettini and Daniel have met twice before this, and the head-to-head is split at 1-1. Incidentally, both matches were played on clay with the Japanese winning their first meeting in a first-round of Istanbul in 2018. Berrettini restored parity, beating Daniel in three sets en route to the Belgrade title a month ago.

Berrettini in Peak Form Ahead of Paris
Matteo Berrettini has been in scintillating form on clay over the past month. After an early exit in Monte Carlo at the hands of Davidovich Fokina, the Italian went on an incredible eight-match winning streak, that was only halted in mid-May.
The power-hitter from the Eternal city won his fourth ATP title in Belgrade and reached the Madrid Masters final where he led Alexander Zverev before losing in three sets. Berrettini’s winning spree included victories over Aslan Karatsev, Fabio Fognini, Cristian Garin, and Casper Ruud.
He had a great week on home soil in Rome where he was slated to play his first match less than 48 hours after the Madrid final. Berrettini beat Nikoloz Basilashvili and John Millman before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Round of 16.
Seeded ninth, Berrettini arrives in Paris in top form. His section is of major interest. He is Roger Federer’s projected fourth-round opponent.

Daniel Comes Through Qualies
After his failure to qualify last year, Taro Daniel made sure of his spot this time around. The Japanese World No. 112 did not drop a set in the qualifying rounds, beating Paolo Lorenzi, Sergiy Stakhovsky, and France’s Quentin Halys to reach his fifth main draw at Roland Garros.
Daniel has played a lot of matches at the Challenger level this year as he looked to give his ranking a lift. Having won a Challenger title in Hamburg at the end of last season, he has performed solidly despite failing to add silver to his trophy cabinet this current season.
His claycourt season in particular has been thoroughly impressive. Daniel reached the semifinal of the ATP tour event in Belgrade as a lucky loser. He recorded victories over established campaigners like Joao Sousa, John Millman, and Federico Delbonis before falling to eventual champion Matteo Berrettini.
The Japanese is 16-8 since the start of the clay swing, including matches from the Challenger circuit.
Berrettini v Daniel Prediction and Tip
Berrettini has looked unbreakable on serve most of the times during this clay-court season. Daniel, meanwhile, stole a set off the Italian in their last meeting in Belgrade. The Japanese man has been in good form himself on the lower rungs of the tennis circuit and we reckon he might garner more games than what the odds suggest.
Tip: Berrettini to win AND over 30.5 games: 21/20 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
