Cameron Norrie v Bjorn Fratangelo Head to Head

Norrie and Fratangelo have never faced off in a competitive match before this one at Roland Garros.

Norrie Coming off a Brilliant Clay Run

Norrie has never known to have relished playing on clay. So much so, there was a period between 2014 and 2017, the Brit did not play a single match on this surface on any of the circuits.

So much so, he had won just 10 and lost 13 of his clay court matches before this season in his career.

This year has been quite different. Norrie has come storming into clay competitions, taken on some of the best in the world and won 14 of the 18 matches he’s played on dirt.

Twice now he has entered finals of competitions, losing to Albert Ramos-Vinolas in Estoril and Stefanos Tsitsipas in Lyon. At Barcelona, Norrie defeated Salvatore Caruso, Karen Khachanov and David Goffin before bowing out to Rafael Nadal.

This turnaround makes him a player to watch, as Norrie now looks to break into the top 40 for the first time in his career. With no points to defend from the previous French Open, Norrie will have a decent chance of doing that if he can win a couple of rounds here.

Fratangelo Hoping to Carry Recent Challenger Form Forward

After winning his first Challenger title for the season on the indoor courts of Cleveland, Fratangelo made it through the qualifiers at the Miami Masters and then won his opener there.

Later, shifting his focus to Tallahassee, Fratangelo featured in another final in a Challenger there, before playing in the qualifiers at Roland-Garros. He was the favourite in each of the three rounds and won convincingly to make it to the main draw.

A former French Open boys singles winner hasn’t followed that up with performances to remember at the highest level though. His best Grand Slam showing came at this very tournament when he won a round in 2016 and followed that up with another first round win in 2017 at the US Open.

Since then, however, Fratangelo hasn’t won a Grand Slam match and by the looks of things, will find it difficult here too.

Norrie v Fratangelo Prediction and Tip

It’s an easy win in the offing for Norrie the way his form her been all season as compared to his opponent’s. Might even clinch it in straight sets.

Tip: Norrie to win in straight sets: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
