Brady Breaks into No Sweat against Sevastova

It was expected to be a lot closer than it turned out to be. Brady, not quite as proficient on clay as she has been elsewhere, was up against Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova whose performances on clay have been a lot better with three titles on the surface.

In the end, the match turned out to be a damp squib that lasted just an hour and 20 minutes and had Brady carving out a straight-set win over Sevastova.

Brady faced eight break-points in her entire first round encounter, lost her serve once but broke her Latvian opponent four times. In fact, Sevastova’s sole break came in the first game of the match, following which Brady gave her no inlet back.

The American had earlier made the third round in Madrid where she fell to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and then retired before her second round match at Rome, having also lost her opener in Stuttgart.

This will be her third attempt to make the third round at Roland-Garros.

Ferro Struggles Past Liang

Chinese Taipei’s En Shuo Liang is ranked 297th in the world and had entered the main draw on the basis of winning her three qualifiers. Which is why it came as no surprise she started off 9/2 favourite to make it past Ferro.

And while Ferro did live up to her favourites tag, she dropped a set en route her second round entry.

Defending a fourth round place at French Open from the previous season’s showing, Ferro came through 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 in an hour and 42 minutes to seal the victory.

She broke Liang three times in the first set while getting broken back once, and then saw the same happen in reverse in the second set. In the decider, Liang had an early opportunity when she grabbed a break in the fifth game but Ferro’s experience saw her through to a three-set win.

Can the Frenchwoman improve on her inconsistent performance from the first round to shock Brady here?

Brady v Ferro Prediction and Tip

While Brady is only just a favourite at 3/4, those sound delicious odds for a player of her calibre despite the obvious issues on clay. Backing her to win this against a player struggling for form.

Tip: Brady to win: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
