Nadal Continues Dominance at Roland Garros

Rafa Nadal continued his dominance at Roland Garros improving to 103-2 for his win-loss record and making the fourth round of a major for the 50th time.

Seeking a record breaking 14th French Open title and a 21st Grand Slam title, Nadal looked strong right from his opener apart from a small blip there where he saved set-point in the third set.

The number three seed continued the dominance in the second round bettering his head-to-head against Richard Gasquet to 17-0 winning 31 sets in a row against the Frenchman spanning 13 years.

Up against Cameron Norrie, the Briton who has had a good run on the clay, one wondered if there would be a challenge for the 20-time major winner for Mallorca. But, there was no stopping Nadal.

A quick 6-3 first set was followed by a exchange of breaks and just when it looked like maybe Norrie would push the champion, Nadal upped the level and closed the second set 6-3.

Up two sets to love, it was all one way traffic in the third with Nadal breaking twice to comfortably close another 6-3 set and make the second week at Roland Garros again with all eyes on all the records in sight for next weekend.

Sinner Sends Former Next-Gen Player Out

In nearly two and a half hours, Sinner managed to carve out a straight-set win over Sweden’s Mikael Ymer and reach the fourth round. He won 6-1, 7-5, 6-3 to ensure he has another chance to overcome the Nadal challenge.

Sinner, who had reached the quarterfinal of this event last year and gone down in straight sets to Nadal, will hope he can put up a better fight than he had last saeason.

The Italian will take on Nadal yet again after sending out Mikael Ymer in straight sets in round three. And that win came on the back of suffering successive difficult matches, where Sinner dropped two and one sets apiece.

This time around though Sinner relied was a straight set winner, needing two hours and 24 minutes to get there. It wouldn’t make it any less difficult.

Nadal v Sinner Prediction and Tip

Sinner has come up the ranks remarkably and in no time and has all the makings of a future slam winner. It will not be an easy opponent for Nadal and Sinner will push him harder than in 2020.

But, it is Rafa Nadal on the Parisian clay- no Robin Soderling this time. Nadal to prevail in four sets.
