Viktorija Golubic v Kristie Ahn Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the 2019 Australian Open and Golubic had won that in straight sets.

The big question for Golubic would be if she can convert her performances on other surfaces into something solid on grass. Because it has been an excellent first half of the season for Golubic.
With two ITF circuit victories already under her belt, Golubic also made it to the final at two of the WTA competitions earlier this season, and both as qualifiers.
At the first, she defeated Caroline Garcia and Fiona Ferro in Lyon to enter the title-decider, before winning six matches in a row in straight sets to enter the Monterrey Open final.
And as far as grass courts are concerned, it’s on this surface that Golubic has her best showing at a Grand Slam. Having never reached the third round at any of the other majors, it was at the 2019 Wimbledon – the last time it was held – that the Swiss player made it that far.

Ahn Finally Halts Bad Streak
It might have come against a player ranked 250th in the world but Ahn would be relieved to have finally registered a win. Because her last main draw victory had come at a $125k competition in March last year after which Ahn’s struggles have been real.
This year itself, the American had been a part of eight tournaments including a few at the ITF circuit and other than one qualifying victory at Miami Open, Ahn had suffered eight defeats.
And even against Jodie Burrage, her Brit opponent in the first round here, Ahn needed to overcome the loss of the first set before carving out back to back sets to clinch the win. Ahn was on court for an hour and 50 to get past Burrage, winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 and set up this meeting against Golubic.
She will need to up her game a lot more to have a chance in this second round match.

A straight-set win for Golubic looks very likely against a player whose confidence has taken a hit from the recent results.
