Johanna Konta v Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove Head to Head
Konta won their only matchup in Barstaple, England 10 years ago, winning the Round of 32 match in straight sets.

Konta Searching for Form
World No. 20 Johanna Konta begins her grass court season on Tuesday. But the three-time major semifinalist comes to Nottingham with a dismal 2021 record so far.
The 30-year-old Briton, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 4 in 2017, is 3-7 this year and will be desperately looking to regain her touch in Nottingham.
The top seed, who received a first-round bye, reached the finals in Nottingham in 2017 and 2018, but couldn’t lift the title on either of the occasions, falling to Donna Vekic and Ashleigh Barty respectively. Both those finals had needed a third set to decide the winner.
A three-time champion from eight finals on the tour, Konta has won all her titles on hard courts, winning two Premier events in Stanford and Sydney in 2016 and 2017 respectively and a Premier Mandatory competition in Miami in 2017.
Konta has not reached a final since losing to Karolina Pliskova in the title clash in Rome in 2019. She however featured in two semifinals last year, falling to Marie Bouzkova in Monterrey and to Victoria Azarenka at the Western and Southern Open.
This year, Konta lost to Irina-Camelia Begu in the Round of 16 at the Gippsland Trophy and then was forced to retire from her first-round match against Kaja Juvan at the Australian Open due to an abdominal injury.
Konta fell to Shelby Rogers in the Round of 16 in Adelaide and Petra Kvitova in the third round in Miami. She didn’t get going on clay either, losing her second-round match to Anastasija Sevastova in Madrid, and her first-round match to Jelena Ostapenko in Rome.
At Roland Garros, where she made history in 2019 by becoming the first British woman to reach the final four since Jo Durie reached that stage in 1983, the 19th seed Konta was beaten by Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the first round.

Pattinama Kerkhove Downs Inglis
Facing Konta in the second round will be World No. 177 Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove, of the Netherlands, who knocked out Australia’s Maddison Inglis in the first round on Sunday.
Pattinama Kerkhove saved both the break points that she faced against the Australian, ranked 135th in the world, and converted three of five to win the contest 6-1, 6-4.
The Dutch had entered the main draw after beating Briatin’s Naikhta Bains 6-2, 6-4 in the qualifiers on Saturday.
The 29-year-old, who is yet to make a mark in singles has one doubles title from four finals. Sunday’s win improved her to 12-13 in singles, across levels, in 2021. However, this is the first main draw appearance at a WTA event for Pattinama Kerkhove this year.
Pattinama Kerkhove has a couple of main draw appearances at Grand Slams as well, but made first round exits from the U.S. Open in 2017 and the Wimbledon in 2019.
Konta v Pattinama Kerkhove Prediction and Tip
