Stojanovic Looking for a Good Run in Nottingham

Nina Stojanovic, currently ranked World No. 87 on the tour, has done well to keep herself busy this season but on the downside, she is yet to have herself a discernible performance that propels her in the rankings.

She is entering the grass season after an uneventful time on the clay courts. In the French Open and the Serbia Open, she lost in the first round respectively to Nao Hibino and Rebecca Peterson. Similarly, in the Madrid Open, the 24-year-old won her qualifying matches but lost in the first round to Anett Kontaveit.

In the WTA 125K series event in Saint-Malo, however, she did go as far as the second round. She reached the same stage in the Melbourne Slam and WTA Monterrey too.

However, all of this isn’t to say that Stojanovic lacks the potential to deliver big upsets on the tour. The number 15 seed in Nottingham had a good run in the Miami Open where she reached the third round as a qualifier. Even on the doubles circuit, she won the Serbia Open doubles with Aleksandra Krunic while in the Australian Open, she reached the women’s doubles semifinal with Darija Jurak.

Dodin Overcomes Vandeweghe in the Opener

24-year-old Oceane Dodin will be pleased with her first-round match here in Nottingham. She defeated the American qualifier Coco Vandeweghe 7-6(4), 6-4 to start her clay season on a positive note.

In the French Open and Strasbourg Open, she barely moved past the first round losing respectively to Madison Keys and Barbora Krejcikova. In fact, most of her clay events this season have been along similar lines. Even in the Madrid Open and WTA Istanbul, she lost in the qualifiers.

However, in the Serbia Ladies Open and WTA Saint-Malo, she did reach the second round.

The #115-ranked  has not won a singles WTA title since 2016 and hasn’t been particularly impressive on grass courts either.

Stojanovic v Dodin Prediction and Tip

Nina Stojanovic will start as our favourite, given her slightly superior season on the whole. However, she will have to work for it as Dodin, in all likelihood, will put up a resistance.
