Querrey Takes Down Duckworth
After an easy first round win over Turkish qualifier Altug Celikbilek, Querrey was made to work a tad more but still completed a straight-set victory over James Duckworth in the second round.
Querrey carved out a 6-4, 7-6 (7) win in a match that lasted an hour and 25 minutes, outgunning his opponent in a match that had three breaks of serves. Two of those went to Querrey, a decisive one in the first and another one to level the proceedings in the second.
The American hammered 23 aces on his way through to the win, saving two set-points in the tie-breaker before converting the first match-point he got.
Querrey will look to rely on his serve yet again against a player who is playing in his first ever career grass court competition.

Stricker Makes it Four Tie-Breakers in a Row
It’s some record to have. Stricker has now played successive rounds here in Stuttgart, won both of them in straight sets and both of which were in tie-breakers.
In short, Stricker’s won all four sets, all of which went into a tie-breaker. And while one might have expected him to do that against Radu Albot, his 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) win over the second seeded Hubert Hurkacz would have come as a surprise to most.
After all, Stricker is just 18 and ranked outside the top 300 in the world but most importantly playing in his first ever tournament on grass – that’s across all circuits.
He has had a solid season on the lower circuits though, with a Challenger title in Lugano and later made it to the quarterfinal at Geneva in what was his maiden ATP competition appearance.
And now with another quarterfinal under his belt, on a surface quite contrasting to clay, Stricker looks to have made the world sit up and take notice.
Can he take his third scalp of the competition?
