Bianca Andreescu v Alize Cornet Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

Andreescu Hoping for a Good Grass Season
The 20-year-old Canadian has pretty much established herself as a formidable force on hard courts but on grass, she is still untested. In the few grass tournaments she has played in through the years (mainly low-tier events), she has never made it past the qualifiers/opening rounds.
That said, the current World No. 7 is an exceptional player with plenty of raw talent yet to be honed. The fact that she has cracked the top 10 so early only tells us she has a long way to go.
Compared to other players, Andreescu has taken 2021 a bit slower by playing in only three hard-court events. In the Phillip Island Trophy, she reached the semis while in the Miami Open, she reached the final, only to lose to Ashleigh Barty. What is even more impressive is that the 2019 US Open champion had missed the entirety of the 2020 season due to the pandemic – and despite that long hiatus, she managed to find her groove in no time.
Andreescu’s form was less than exciting on clay – she reached the quarterfinal in Strasbourg but withdrew from that game. In the French Open, she fell to a very determined Tamara Zidansek 7-6(1), 6-7(2), 7-9.

Cornet Outclasses Anisimova
Alize Cornet started her journey in the German Open with a 6-3, 6-1 win over the American teen prodigy Amanda Anisimova. The 31-year-old tennis veteran will now look to deliver a similar masterclass to the Canadian youngster.
That said; Cornet hasn’t had that clinical of a season with the majority of her year dotted with early-round defeats. Between WTA Abu Dhabi and the Phillip Island Trophy, the Frenchwoman featured in four tournaments and never made it past the second round.
It was the same case in Dubai and Miami as well, with her first major breakthrough coming in the Charleston Open. That clay tournament saw Cornet reach the third round and pick up 55 ranking points – the most she has done in any tournament. Most recently, Cornet featured in the French Open where she fell to her compatriot, #149-ranked Harmony Tan in straight sets.
Andreescu v Cornet Prediction and Tip
Andreescu should see herself through to the next round, but she ought to be prepared for a tough fight from Cornet.
