Garbine Muguruza v Elena Rybakina Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Muguruza Overcomes Cirstea in the Opener
Two-time Wimbledon finalist Garbine Muguruza is off to a good start here in the German Open. In the opener, she defeated her Romanian adversary Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-2 to book the second-round berth.
Playing in her first grass tournament since the 2019 Wimbledon, Muguruza is hoping to get a few wins under her belt before she heads to the SW19.
The 27-year-old has picked up three trophies already this year – two runner-up titles in the Yarra Valley Classic and Qatar Open, and the winning cup in the Dubai Championships. Across these tournaments, she defeated the likes of Sofia Kenin, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Aryna Sabalenka, Maria Sakkari, Elise Mertens, and Barbora Krejcikova.
Her clay swing, however, wasn’t half as exciting. Her best run came in the Italian Open where she fell in the third round to Elina Svitolina.
In the two seasons that Muguruza moved on to reach the final at the Wimbledon, her performance there was preceded by a couple of stints in other grass events, notably in Birmingham and Eastbourne.

Rybakina Outlasts Rogers
21-year-old Elena Rybakina had to fight for her second-round spot against the American Shelby Rogers. In a match that lasted for an hour and 44 minutes, the Kazakh prevailed ultimately in three sets with 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The last time Rybakina was on grass, she reached the semifinal in the WTA ‘s-Hertogenbosch while in the Wimbledon, she was beaten right in the qualifiers.
She will fancy her chances of having another deep run in a grass tournament this season too, especially given her recent form. In the French Open, she made it to the quarterfinals where she fell to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. That said, she did beat Serena Williams in the very same tournament.
Her other highlight of the season includes a quarterfinal feat in the WTA Abu Dhabi at the start of the year. Currently ranked World No. 21, Rybakina has proven on multiple occasions that she is not a player who is to be taken lightly.
Muguruza v Rybakina Prediction and Tip
Keeping aside a couple of tournaments, Muguruza’s losses this season have come at the hands of higher-ranked players than her. Rybakina, however, presents an interesting challenge as the youngster is full of confidence and momentum.
Expect this to be an entertaining affair, one that may very well see three sets.
