Belinda Bencic v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head
There have been three previous matches played between these two players, with Alexandrova having won two of them.
Bencic had won in their first meeting at the 2019 Indian Wells Open but this was followed by Alexandrova winning on the grass court of Eastbourne that very season before she took the lead earlier this year on the clay courts of Stuttgart.

After a slow start to the grass swing with Bencic needing a three-setter to get past Jule Niemeier, the Swiss player came back strongly in the second round against Petra Martic.
Bencic defeated Martic 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 24 minutes to make it to the quarterfinals with the Swiss player saving all the five break-points she faced in the encounter.
In turn, Bencic took control late in both the sets – in the first she broke in the sixth game and saved four break-points on either side of that while in the second Bencic cracked past her opponent’s serve in the ninth game.
The Swiss player then served out for the match.

Alexandrova Gunning for More Grass Glory
She has never progressed beyond the second round at Wimbledon but the manner in which Alexandrova has started off at this competition, it looks like this might be a season she could do better than that.
Because after crushing fellow Russian Anna Kalinskaya in the first round, Alexandrova marched on into the quarterfinals with a stunning straight-set win against the second seeded Elina Svitolina in her second round.
Alexandrova won 6-4, 7-5 in an hour and 31 minutes to pocket the victory.
Matters went to serve in the first set with neither player getting any breaking opportunities till Alexandrova got one past her opponent. That was all that she needed to win the set.
In the second, Svitolina stormed back by breaking Alexandrova in the sixth game but the Russian fought hard to stave off seven set-points in the ninth game and broke back in that very game. Couple of games later, Alexandrova repeated that dose before serving it out to clinch the match.
It would be an understatement to say she would be rather confident coming into this one.
