Casper Ruud v Gilles Simon Head to Head

Ruud’s Yet to Win on Grass
Whichever way you look at it, Ruud has had a solid season so far. A win-loss record of 22-7 in 2021 puts him at number seven on the list of best such ratios for the season and in the Race to the Finals, Ruud is currently 11th.
Unfortunately for him, this could all change quickly as the Norwegian number one switches surfaces from clay to grass.
Because while Ruud is an excellent clay-courter with both his titles having come on this surface and with two Masters 1000 semifinals on it this season already, he has a long way to go before he can prove his mettle on grass.
In fact Ruud has played a sum total of two grass court matches in his career, of which one came in the main draw of a competition (at Wimbledon 2019). He had lost both.
At some point Ruud can be expected to win one on grass too, he has that pedigree for sure but whether it would be in his first match on the surface in two years remains to be seen.

Simon’s Horror Show Continues on Grass
It’s been the kind of season for Simon which he would like to forget and quickly at that. Trouble for him is, at 36 years of age, the opportunities can only be expected to dwindle down unless he can find himself some form.
And that’s what he’s sorely lacking at the moment.
In the 13 matches Simon has played so far this year, he has won just two. He comes into this tournament on the back of an eight-match losing streak too and that includes back to back losses on grass – going down in the openers at Stuttgart and Halle.
He will now hope for a better showing having stretched Nikoloz Basilashvili to three sets at Halle last week, especially against a player who is also looking to find his feet on the surface.
Ruud v Simon Prediction and Tip
Most players would have gone into this match against Simon has overwhelming favourites but for the lack of data to compare Ruud’s performances on grass with. He is 4/6 to win this and we reckon those are tempting odds to go with.
Tip: Ruud to win: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
