Karolina Pliskova v Donna Vekic Head to Head
Other than when they met in the qualifiers of the 2012 US Open where Vekic won in straight sets, Pliskova has registered four successive victories over Vekic. The last of these wins came at the French Open played recently, where also they had faced off in round one.

After multiple ups and downs throughout this season, Pliskova did not make it past her opener at the German Open last week either.
The former world number one, unfortunately, was drawn to play Jessica Pegula in that match, their fourth such meeting for the season and for the fourth time this year, Pliskova failed to get past her American opponent.
Pliskova, who has shown a steady decline in her performances, which have then been interspersed with the odd solid one, does have a good record in Eastbourne though. In 2016, the Czech player won the title here before following it up with another one in 2019 – it was also the third of her titles on grass.
The question, however, is if she can turn things around on this surface this season after having struggled throughout the earlier part of 2021.

Vekic Showing Signs of Sparkle
Since coming back from her surgery, Vekic might have won and lost three matches apiece, but the fact she has looked good while on court augurs well for a player who is coming off a substantial break.
Vekic, who had made it to the fourth round at Australian Open earlier this year but then went under the knife, returned at French Open where she fell to Pliskova herself in her opener.
It was a fighting performance and one that would have given him some confidence going into the next two. At Nottingham, she made the third round before losing to Nina Stojanovic while at Birmingham, Vekic registered wins over Francesca Jones and Camila Giorgi before Heather Watson got the better of her.
Can Vekic now put up a strong showing against Pliskova?
