It’s bit of a surprise Kvitova hasn’t played any match on grass so far this season in the lead-up to Wimbledon but injury could have played a part.
In fact, Kvitova has been out of action since her second round withdrawal at the French Open where she was expected to play Elena Vesnina but withdrew from the tournament following what has been described a freak injury.
The Czech injured her ankle while coming to meet the media after her first round win.
And it looks like that injury has taken its time to heal given her decision to give tournaments like the Nottingham Open and Birmingham Open a miss this season.
Kvitova, who has won a title this year in Doha, should not have too much of a problem adjusting back quickly to life on grass, and having a first round opponent ranked nearly 400th in the world should expedite that process.

Piter Wins a Match in 2021
She hasn’t played a lot of tennis across either of the two circuits, WTA or ITF, but whatever little she had played before this, she hadn’t won anything. Played three, lost three, all of which had come in the qualifiers of WTA events.
It was finally earlier in the qualifiers of the Bad Homborg Open on Sunday that Piter won a match, her first victory at any stage of a WTA tournament since October 2019.
Piter, who was 11/5 to pouch her encounter against Nastasia Schunk, did so in a hard-fought three-setter which saw her win a couple of tie-breakers.
Against Kvitova it will be a wholly different ball-game altogether but the former world number 95 will hope to put up some fight at the very least.
