Amanda Anisimova v Andrea Petkovic Head to Head
Their only previous outing came at the 2019 Miami Open where Anisimova defeated Petkovic 6-4, 6-3 to move into the second round.

Anisimova’s Performance Catches up with Her Ranking
She had begun the season ranked 30th in the world despite a lacklustre showing in the previous year but continued performances issues have finally caught up with Anisimova. Having begun June at 41st in the world, the American fell off the cliff with the recent tweak in the WTA ranking system pulling her down to her current 81st on the charts.
And unless Anisimova can begin showing some kind of consistency yet again, she would find it even tougher to maintain her direct qualifying for tournaments.
After a first round defeat at the hands of Alize Cornet in Berlin last week, Anisimova would have been slightly nervous coming into her opener here against Danka Kovinic. Especially because of her performances otherwise too, which have been quite underwhelming to say the least.
Anisimova did show what she is capable of though. In just 51 minutes, she demolished Kovinic 6-2, 6-1 to move into the second round where she faces the veteran Petkovic.

Petkovic Shocker for Sorana
With form on her side, Sorana Cirstea would have considered her opening round match against the 130th-ranked Andrea Petkovic as a warm-up to the sterner tests that lay in front of her.
Unfortunately for Cirstea, Petkovic defied the odds and carved out a 6-3, 6-4 victory over the Romanian to move into round two.
Stunningly, the 33-year-old broke Cirstea in third and ninth game of the opening set and looked to have had the match under wraps when she went up 4-2 in the second. Cirstea fought back with her first break of the match in the seventh game but Petkovic broke right when her opponent was under pressure serving to stay in the match at 4-5.
What made the win even more surprising was Petkovic had come into that match on the back of just two main draw wins in the entire season. And while Cirstea might not have had the best form on grass throughout her career, Petkovic will take a lot away from that win.
Anisimova v Petkovic Prediction and Tip
This shouldn’t be too difficult for Anisimova and while Petkovic has some confidence from her opening win, the American should come through in straight sets here.
