Pablo Carreno Busta v Jiri Vesely Head to Head
Carreno Busta defeated Vesely in the second round of the Australian Open earlier this year, winning the four-set contest 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-4.

Carreno Busta 2-8 on Grass
World No. 13 Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain will begin his grass court season in the second round in Mallorca on Wednesday.
The fourth seed, who received a first-round bye, has had a solid season so far and comes in with a 17-7 record that also includes a title in Marbella and a semifinal finish in Barcelona.
However, Carreno Busta would be a bit edgy coming into the grass season as he has a woeful 2-8 career record on the surface. His only wins came in Antalya in 2019, where he reached the semifinals before bowing out to Lorenzo Sonego.
A two-time U.S. Open semifinalist and two-time French Open quarterfinalist, Carreno Busta has made five main draw appearances at Wimbledon, but is yet to get his first win at the All England Club.
This season, Carreno Busta won his fifth career title by beating Jaume Munar in the final in Marbella. He reached the last four in Barcelona by defeating Diego Schwartzman in the quarters but fell to Rafael Nadal in straight sets. In another significant performance this year, Carreno Busta reached the fourth round of the French Open, but was eliminated by Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Vesely Knocks Out Caruso
World No. 71 Jiri Vesely began his Mallorca challenge with a hard-fought win over Italy’s Salvatore Caruso on Monday.
The 6’6″ left-hander served 10 aces and had 16 break points in the match, converting three of them. His opponent created seven breaking opportunities in the match but Vesely saved six of them to wrap up the one-hour-and-59-minute contest 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
Vesely had begun his grass season in Stuttgart, losing to Denis Novak in the first round. The Czech player, who has two ATP titles and a runner-up finish, is 7-8 this year with his best coming at Melbourne-2, where he beat Casper Ruud in the second round on his way to the quarterfinals. He retired after losing the first set tiebreak against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last eight.
Vesely, who has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon twice, has a career record of 19-12 on grass.
Carreno Busta v Vesely Prediction and Tip
Pablo Carreno Busta’s poor grass record means he will have his task cut out against a player who has produced decent results on the surface despite the gap in their rankings.
