Angelique Kerber v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
The two ladies have never met before on the WTA Tour.

Kerber Seeking Resurgence on Grass
Angelique Kerber, once a top 10 player, has fallen down to the #28 position in the singles ranking. This has been on the back of continued form struggles over the last couple of seasons.
That said, if there was ever a time for her the German to make a comeback on the tour, a grass tournament would be the way to go. Her last singles trophy was the 2018 Wimbledon while her last singles final on the tour was in Eastbourne in 2019.
Over here in Bad Homburg, she dispatched the Russian Ekaterina Yashina 6-1, 6-1, to reach the second round. Kerber had an exactly similar run in last week’s WTA Berlin too, where she fell to Victoria Azarenka.
Kerber’s season so far has been highly uneventful and definitely not in line with what you would expect from a former No. 1 player. Her best run includes a quarterfinal stint in the Grampians Trophy (lost to Maria Sakkari) and a third-round stint in the Miami Open and the Italian Open. In the French Open, Kerber was beaten by #139th-ranked Anhelina Kalinina in straight sets.

Blinkova Survives the Tauson Challenge
22-year-old Anna Blinkova beat the Danish prodigy Clara Tauson in her opening round here in Bad Homburg with 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2 to make this second round appearance.
This win marks the first time that Blinkova has made it to this stage in a WTA 250 (or upper level) tournament on the tour since the Phillip Island Trophy in February. Back then, she fell to Irina-Camelia Begu in the second round. Since then, the Russian has participated in eight WTA events but never won her first-round main draw match in any of them.
An exception to this is the WTA 125K series event in Bol, Croatia, where she was a semifinalist. Most recently, she played in the Bett1Open in Berlin last week where she lost her opening qualifying game to Mandy Minella.
Blinkova has enjoyed much more success as a doubles player, reaching the semifinal in the US Open women’s doubles last year and the final in the Phillip Island Trophy with Anastasia Potapova this season.
Kerber v Blinkova Prediction and Tip
As the more experienced among the two, Kerber will start this match with a definite edge. But given her proclivity to lose to the unseeded underdogs in the early rounds, Blinkova will definitely fancy her chances of delivering an upset here.
Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
