Alexei Popyrin v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
The pair have never met before. This will be the first match between the 21 year old Australian, and the man from Belarus who is six years older.

Popyrin Beats Lucky Loser
On his only previous visit to Wimbledon, Popyrin reached the second round, but his only two previous matches on grass prior to Eastbourne did not go so well this year, as he was beaten in the first round of the Stuttgart Open by the Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez, and then again at the same stage at Queen’s last week by Dan Evans.
Both those defeats were by straight sets.
He was originally due to play Cameron Norrie of Great Britain, the beaten finalist at Queen/s but, when Norrie dropped out, Norbert Gombos of Slovakia was substituted as a lucky loser instead.
It was Gombos who started the better of the pair, breaking Popyrin in the third game of the match and then consolidating that to take the first set.
The second set was dominated by serve and then, serving to stay in the set, Gombos gave Popyrin a single break opportunity, which he took.
The momentum started to swing the Australian’s way and he broke Gombos again in the third set, He then underlined his late dominance with a further break and m in the end, cruised to victory.

Ivashka Struggles Past Lowly Ranked Wildcard
Unlike Popyrin, Ivashka has never even played at Wimbledon before, having lost in the first round of the qualifying competition on three occasions.
However, he has been trying to find some form on grass and qualified for both Stuttgart and Halle only to lose in the first round in both instances.
Again, he had to qualify in Eastbourne, but, this time the fates were kind to him, and gave him an easy draw against the British wildcard, Alistair Gray, the world number 1133.
Ivashka won the first set for the loss of just two games, but that does not tell the whole story, as he had to save no fewer than seven points against his own serve.
And, although he broke Gray at the start of the second set, the wildcard hit back to level, and again when Ivashka had a chance to serve out for the match.
That meant a tie-break, with both men struggling to hold serve, but, in the end, Ivashka held his nerve to crawl over the finish line.
Popyrin v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
Whilst neither man is a grass court natural and both had their first-round challenges, Popyrin is the higher ranked player and potentially has the greater ability to adapt his game to the surface.
