Rybakina Coming off Eastbourne Semifinal

This is just the second season in Rybakina’s career she has played on grass and going into Wimbledon, she would be reasonably happy with her on-court showing.

Except there are a few worries around Rybakina’s fitness, having needed a medical treatment for her back in her most recent encounter in Eastbourne, where she had reached the semifinal.

In that semifinal against Jelena Ostapenko, Rybakina lost eight of the last nine games following that fitness issue and that will be bit of a concern for her coming into the year’s third Grand Slam.

That said, Rybakina’s record on grass, despite her inexperience, is nothing to be scoffed at. At her maiden appearance on this surface, Rybakina reached the semifinal in Hertogenbosch and made it two semifinals in three tournaments by reaching the same stage in Eastbourne.

Can she now overcome her back-related issue and win her first match at Wimbledon?

Fighting Mladenovic to Put up a Show

Her fall from once being a top-10 singles player to a doubles specialist and a sporadic singles performer has been well-documented but Mladenovic has often punched above her current 59th rank.

Like at the Nottingham Open earlier this season on grass, she defeated Kurumi Nara and Caty McNally to reach the quarterfinals.

At the WTA Dubai earlier this season, Mladenovic had surprised Petra Martic while her biggest win of the season came against Maria Sakkari at the opening round of Australian Open.

What doesn’t quite go in her favour is Mladenovic has rarely done well at Wimbledon, having made it to third round as her best showing.

If Rybakina’s fitness remains a concern, Mladenovic’s grittiness could help her edge out her opponent.

Rybakina v Mladenovic Prediction and Tip

The biggest deciding factor in this contest will be Rybakina’s fitness, but if she can get down to business without any such physical concerns, she should come through.
