Daniil Medvedev v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head
The players have met four times thus far, with Medvedev leading the head-to-head 3-1. While the Russian has won on clay, indoor hard and outdoor hard, the German Struff prevailed last week in straight sets on the grass courts of Halle.

Medvedev Confidence Increases On Grass After Mallorca Title
After a successful end to 2020 and a strong start to 2021 Down Under, Daniil Medvedev had a bout of Covid-19 that kept him out of the early portion of the clay court season. When he returned to the clay swing, it was a dismal run at both Madrid and Rome for the world number two as he headed to Roland Garros stating that clay was not a surface he enjoyed playing on.
It was a surprisingly good run for Medvedev at the French Open, where got his act together making the quarter-finals dropping only one set and looking in good touch and happy with his groundstrokes and game. Although Medvedev lost out to eventual runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarters, all things taken into consideration it was a good run at the clay slam for the Russian.
A disappointing first round loss at the ATP 500 in Halle against Jan-Lennard Struff marked the start of the grass swing for Medvedev, and thus the Russian decided to play this week in Mallorca the week before Wimbledon.
Medvedev has not had the best of runs on grass in the past, making the third round at Wimbledon on two occasions, and being a semi-finalist at the ATP 500 at the Queen’s Club and in Eastbourne at the ATP 250 there.
It was a fruitful week for the Russian at Mallorca this week as he not only had some useful grass court match practice, but also won the title and beat players with different styles ranging from Casper Ruud to Pablo Carreno Busta to Sam Querrey en route. This now ensures that Medvedev comes to Wimbledon confident hoping for a good run.

Struff Looking For Halle Repeat
Jan-Lennard Struff has been on the tour for most of the last decade and his struggles on grass have been profound with an approximate 30-70 percent win-loss ratio on the surface coming into the grass swing this season.
The German had a good run at the French Open defeating in-form Russian Andrey Rublev in the opener and then making the round of 16 before losing out to Argentine Diego Schwartzman.
Coming to grass where he has not had the best of records, Struff carried forward his confidence from clay and defeated top seed Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the opener, before falling out to Marcus Giron in the next round.
Struff will take heart from that he was a semi-finalist at Stuggart in 2019 and made the round of 32 at Wimbledon the same year. The German will know the task against Medvedev in the opener here at SW19 will be uphill, but his recent results will definitely give him the much needed belief.
Having defeated Medvedev once on grass last week already, can Struff repeat it on the biggest stage now?
Medvedev v Struff Prediction and Tip
Although Struff beat Medvedev on the Halle grass less than two weeks before Wimbledon, the Russian will be a lot more confident after his maiden grass court tile this week at Mallorca. Coupled with the fact that it is a major, expect Medvedev to come out much stronger.
A straight sets win for Medvedev seems the most likely outcome.
