Egor Gerasimov v Jay Clarke Head to Head

Gerasimov and Clarke have never played before this in a competitive match.

Gerasimov Underwhelming on Grass

28-year-old Gerasimov has been around the ATP circuit for a while now but as far as his performances on grass is concerned, they have been quite underwhelming.

In fact before his first round win at Eastbourne earlier this month, Gerasimov had never won a main draw match in a grass tournament. Even worse, in the three attempts he made to make it to the main draw at Wimbledon, Gerasimov had lost in the first round of qualifying.

Making it worse for Gerasimov has been his form this season.

Since making it to the semifinal at Montpellier Open, Gerasimov has won four main draw matches. To go with that there have been three defeats at the qualifying stages of competitions too, including one on the grass courts of Halle.

With form not on Gerasimov’s side and his issues on grass well chronicled as well, things might not be looking too bright for him despite playing someone who has never been in the top 150 of rankings.

Clarke Struggling in Challengers

If Gerasimov’s problems have been largely restricted to this season and on grass, Clarke’s short career has barely seen any wins go his way. In fact, he has won just two main draw matches in his career of the eight times he got an opportunity to play.

Clarke’s career has largely consisted of wins at the Futures and Challengers competitions. He has four title victories on the Futures circuit before he added a couple more at the latter in 2018 and 2019 but since then his results have taken a hit even at that level.

So much so that this year, Clarke has won a mere seven matches and just four of them in main draws of Challenger competitions.

In short this will be a battle between two players who have been struggling for form and despite his lack of results, he will know it would be a matter of who plays better on the day.

Gerasimov v Clarke Prediction and Tip

While Gerasimov is a favourite here at 1/2, we will be averse from going with that call. Expecting there to be at least four or five sets in the match.
