Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova v Ana Bogdan Head to Head
The Russian holds a 1-0 lead over Bogdan, last beating her in the 2019 Shenzhen Open with 6-0, 6-1.

Pavlyuchenkova Hoping to Emulate her Paris Run
Currently ranked World No. 19, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova had a defining spell in the French Open where she reached the final – her first such feat in a Grand Slam. Along the way, she surpassed some big names like Victoria Azarenka, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina. Ultimately, the Russian fell to Barbora Krejcikova.
That said, it was Pavlyuchenkova’s best run in quite some time and was preceded by a semifinal appearance in the Madrid Open. In comparison to the first half of the season where she was defeated in the early rounds, these couple of tournaments helped her set the tone for the rest of the season.
She tried to get some rhythm on the grass by playing in the Eastbourne International last week but fell to the eventual champion Jelena Ostapenko in the first round. Pavlyuchenkova should be able to avoid a similar result this time around, however, seeing that she is considerably better than her Romanian adversary.
But then again, a few of the defeats that she has incurred this season have come at the hands of lowly-ranked players like Anastasia Gasanova and Anastasia Potapova, thus setting a precedent for Bogdan to follow.

Bogdan Competing in her First Grass Tournament
Ana Bogdan has not won her first-round match in Wimbledon since 2017 and going by her present form, it is unlikely that she will break that jinx this time.
Her last event was the French Open where she reached the third round, courtesy of a walkover she got in the second round against Naomi Osaka. Had the Japanese not withdrawn, the 28-year-old Romanian would not have walked away with 130 ranking points owing to her round three appearance – the most she has picked up in any tournament this season.
Currently ranked in the early 90s, Bogdan’s other highlights include a quarterfinal stint in Istanbul (where she beat Krejcikova) and a second-round run in the Yarra Valley Classic.
Bogdan has never made it to a WTA singles final either in her long career so far, which should tell us all there is to know about her as a player.
