Diego Schwartzman v Liam Broady Head to Head
Schwartzman and Broady have never played each other before this in a competitive encounter.

Broady Aiming for Career-Best Showing
Having never made it to the third round at a Grand Slam in his career, Broady will be hoping to do just that when he takes to court on Wednesday. And he will have the performance from his opening round match to remember to give him the confidence he needs.
Sure, he was a favourite coming up against Marco Cecchinato, a player who has rarely done well outside of clay but for Broady to convert that tag into a special on-court performance was a heart-warming experience for his home crowd.
Broady came through 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 in an hour and 49 minutes, dishing out five breaks of serves in the match and not dropping his serve even once despite facing six break-points.
With 29 winners and just 13 unforced errors to boot, it was as clinical a performance as could have been expected by a 143rd-ranked player featuring in a Grand Slam.
The Brit, who had earlier made second round in Eastbourne and has two Challenger final appearances this season, will have a tougher second round opponent in the form of Diego Schwartzman. That, however, comes with the rider that even Schwartzman is more of a clay-courter than most.

Schwartzman Begins Grass Court Swing with Ease
Given how Benoit Paire has been going about his business these days, it isn’t too much of a surprise most opponents are happy to take him on early in the tournament. And Schwartzman, despite his perpetual fondness for no other surface but clay, did not have any trouble getting past the Frenchman and sealing his second round spot.
In a match that was played across two days, Schwartzman triumphed 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 in an hour and 35 minutes to set up this meeting with Broady.
Schwartzman broke Paire six times in the match including three in the third set bagel and while he dished out no aces, the Argentine was aided greatly by Paire’s 52 unforced errors and closed out the match with just one break of serve against him.
With this win, Schwartzman now has a chance to emulate his best ever performance at Wimbledon – a third round appearance in 2019. Especially since he has an opponent ranked outside the top 140 and one who himself hasn’t reached the third round here.
Schwartzman v Broady Prediction and Tip
This could turn out to be an interesting one. Schwartzman is ranked 11th in the world and should be an obvious favourite against a player who is 143rd on those same charts but we believe it might not be that easy. Not on grass.
Schwartzman might still come through but could drop a set on his way.
