Ashleigh Barty v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
Barty and Blinkova have never played a match at any level before this.

Barty Ends Suarez Navarro’s Wimbledon Journey
This was likely to be Carla Suarez Navarro’s farewell Wimbledon. But Ashleigh Barty was as professional as they come.
The was no element of sentimentality on the court as far as Barty was concerned. The Australian withstood a brave fightback from the tenacious Spaniard and recovered from a second-set jiggle to win their marquee first-round match in three sets.
Barty was playing in her first match since retiring at the French Open due to a hip injury. But there were no issues of that injury flaring up again. She displayed supreme movement to race into a 3-1 lead following a break in play due to rain.
The top seed went on to wrap up the first set 6-1 in just 25 minutes.
The second set stayed on serve until at 4-all when the Australian went for the kill. She converted her third break point after Suarez Navarro’s onehanded backhand began to misfire.
However, the Spaniard broke back immediately as she foiled Barty’s attempt to serve for the match. The set went into a tiebreak and Suarez Navarro dominated it from start to finish, dropping just one point.
With momentum on her side, Suarez Navarro somehow failed to build on it. Barty extinguished any hopes of an upset in the third set in which she hit 11 winners to just two unforced errors to close out a 6-1 6-7 6-1 victory.

Blinkova Eases Past Babos
Anna Blinkova steamrollered past World No. 116 Timea Babos, registering an easy 6-2 6-2 win on Court 5 in just 69 minutes. It was her second main draw win at Wimbledon in four visits (also reached the second round in 2018).
The match was uneventful, with Blinkova breaking Babos twice in each set. The Hungarian, on her part, created five break point chances but did not take any as the Russian wheeled away with some clutch, risky serving.
Blinkova will need to improve massively in both her serve and return game when she takes on the World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty. The Russian landed a modest 53% of her first serves (although she won 77% of points) against a player outside the top 100 and whose singles career is on a downward spiral.
Her low serving numbers translated into eight double faults, which if replicated, could come at a cost against a player of Barty’s level.
Barty v Blinkova Prediction and Tip
Barty is extremely cautious with her movement, and there have been concerns about the slippery surface at the baseline which has resulted in a couple of retirements already. The Aussie has only just returned from a hip injury and the last thing on her mind is taking a tumble that might be damaging. But this match should be in her racket.
Tip: Barty to win AND under 18.5 games: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
