Auger-Aliassime 7-2 on Grass This Season

Much like it has been the case all his career on other surfaces, Auger-Aliassime has been steady on grass this season. In what is his third tournament on this surface, Auger-Aliassime has now won seven matches and lost two which includes a final appearance at Stuttgart Open.

And he kick-started his Wimbledon campaign with a rather facile opening round victory over Thiago Monteiro.

Auger-Aliassime won 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in a mere two hours and 10 minutes to proceed to the second round of the competition. Such was the domination of Auger-Aliassime in the match, he broke his opponent four times from the 13 opportunities he got while himself facing no break-point chances.

Not surprisingly, Auger-Aliassime won 40 of his 46 points on his first serve and lost just 13 points on his own serve overall. In short, it was a performance that would have warmed Auger-Aliassime up nicely for the rest of the competition.

Having appeared in just one previous edition of this tournament, Auger-Aliassime had made the third round there. Can he take that first step towards pushing past that this time around?

Ymer Needs Five against Tsonga

On the one hand, Ymer’s fighting abilities need to be praised as he carved out a tough, five-set win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in his opening round encounter.

Then again, we are talking about a player who had lost seven of the eight matches this year coming into Wimbledon, and with no form or rhythm, one would have expected Ymer to do a lot better than go two sets to one down before needing to fight back.

One way or the other, Ymer was on court for four hours and three minutes to clinch his place in the second round, and get him his first ever singles win at Wimbledon. The question now is if he can make it to the third round, having done that at both previous Grand Slams this season.

At Australian Open, he had defeated the seeded player Hubert Hurkacz while at Roland-Garros, Ymer needed to defeat Gael Monfils to get there. Will Auger-Aliassime become another seeded casualty at the hands of Ymer?

Auger-Aliassime v Ymer Prediction and Tip

Auger-Aliassime’s form is too good to be lost this early and especially to a player who has had his struggles this year despite having improved on his play. Expecting another straight-set win for Auger-Aliassime here.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
