Grigor Dimitrov v Alexander Bublik Head to Head
The players have met once so far, and that was at the 2019 Chengdu Open, where Bublik prevailed in a final set tiebreak.

Dimitrov Prevails After Shaky Start
World No. 21 Grigor Dimitrov came to Wimbledon not in the best of forms, and with no grass practice but with a good record on the surface that dates back to 2014 when he defeated Andy Murray to make the semi-finals and had won the title at Queens’ the same year.
An eight-time champion and seven-time runner-up on the tour, Dimitrov has won four titles, including the ATP Finals final, in 2017, but not won a single title since.
Dimitrov had to pull out in the first round of the French Open to Marcus Giron after leading, with an unfortunate injury in the fourth set. The Bulgarian was beaten in the first round of Wimbledon 2019 squandering a two set lead to Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
Looking to erase some of this, it did not look the best for the Bulgarian as Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco was up by a set early in the match in the Wimbledon opener. A strong comeback by Dimitrov followed, and the out of touch Verdasco caved in soon for a 4 set Dimitrov win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
With minimal play on grass, Dimitrov will be happy with his win but also wary of his next opponent Bublik and how the challenge gets more difficult here on.

Strong Opener For Bublik
Alexander Bublik did not have the best of starts on grass with an early loss at Queen’s Club last week, to Briton Jack Draper ranked 309 in the world. It was not quite the outing he had hoped for, after making the finals on grass at the Newport Hall Of Fame in 2019.
It has been an overall encouraging season for the Kazakh who made the finals at Antalya and Singapore, and the final eight of the Masters 1000s in Miami and Madrid.
Bublik had a decent start to the tournament last week in Eastbourne, with straight set wins over Egor Gerasimov and countryman Mikhail Kukushkin but fell to rising Italian Lorenzo Sonego, just as he was hoping for a deeper run.
Up against senior compatriot Mikhail Kukushkin in the Wimbledon opener, it was a very convincing and strong performance by Bublik who prevailed 6-4,6-2,6-1 in a convincing display.
Dimitrov v Bublik Prediction and Tip
This should make for an exciting contest with both players high on talent but not the most consistent especially recently. It will be down to who is better on the day and who plays the big points better, but expect Dimitrov to sneak through a tight four-setter with his experience.
