The 39-year-old is in the twilight of his career, sure, but Lorenzi would have liked to do a lot better than what he has managed this season.
Because since winning the opening round match at Rome Challenger in April, Lorenzi has featured in seven tournaments at different levels and lost eight matches in a row. When one extends this to the entire season, Lorenzi has won just two main draw matches, both of which coming on the Challenger circuit.
What makes it worse for Lorenzi is grass has never been his most preferred surface all his career.
Of the 25 main draw matches he has featured in on this surface, Lorenzi has won only five. Add qualifying wins, this number goes up to seven and we are looking at a career that’s now spread across nearly two decades.

Cressy Stumbles at Last Wimbledon Hurdle
The big-serving, serve-and-volleyer Cressy featured in his first ever Wimbledon earlier this season and for a moment it looked like he would manage to make it to the main draw.
Cressy stunned Thanasi Kokkinakis in his first round there and then defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler in the second before falling at the final hurdle to Mackenzie McDonald despite being up two sets to love.
Earlier, Cressy had found it difficult to get going in Nottingham, where two Challenger tournaments were played on grass. Both times, the Frenchman lost in the first round.
These defeats aside, however, Cressy’s style of play looks quite suited to grass and against a player who has struggled to get going this season, he will start off as a heavy favourite.
