Pablo Carreno Busta v Carlos Taberner Head to Head
There have been no previous meetings on the ATP circuit between these two players. However, they did face off in an exhibition match at the Liga MAPFRE de Tenis and Carreno Busta was an easy winner there.

While grass has never been Carreno Busta’s strong suit, he would have liked to do better than his first round defeat at Wimbledon. Losing to Sam Querrey in straight sets in that match wasn’t quite what he would have preferred, that early.
Which is why this change in setting couldn’t have come any sooner.
Carreno Busta has done what it takes on clay this season to keep him in touch with a possible top 10 berth. A title win at Marbella Open was his first of the season, and he followed that up with a semifinal in Barcelona where it took Rafael Nadal to push him out.
And with a fourth round at French Open that followed, one can safely conclude Carreno Busta will be looking forward to this second round contest, following a first round bye.

Taberner Takes Down Lopez
While Carreno Busta is a higher-ranked and a better pedigreed player, he would be ill-advised to take a clay court specialist like Taberner with less seriousness than is needed.
Because Taberner comes into his second round on the back of nine wins in 10 clay court matches spread across different levels of the sport – a title win on the Challenger circuit was followed by a second round exit at another before he came through to the qualifiers to set up a meeting with Feliciano Lopez in his opener.
And while Taberner was taken to three sets, he came through in two hours and 11 minutes to seal his second round berth with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over his way more experienced opponent.
In a surprisingly cagey affair, there was just one break of serve in each of the three sets, and it wasn’t until the eighth game of the final set that Taberner finally took control of the encounter. After breaking Lopez in that game, he served it out to love to make it to round two.
Carreno Busta will be tougher opponent though and Taberner will need to do a lot more here.
Carreno Busta v Taberner Prediction and Tip
Other than Taberner’s form, the fact he has been playing a lot of clay court tennis in recent times will be a huge plus, especially given his opponent hasn’t played on this surface since the first week of June. Might make for an interesting viewing as a result.
