Millman Keen to Put Wimbledon Behind Him
Making his second appearance at the Swedish Open in Bastad, John Millman will be keen to put the disappointment of losing in the first round at Wimbledon behind him.
The Aussie trailed Roberto Bautista Agut by two sets to one but fought back valiantly in the fourth set as he attempted to force a decider. And with the pair locked at 3-all in the fourth-set tiebreak, the Spaniard called for the trainer at the changeover for a thigh problem.
Millman was furious and apparently called it a ‘thigh rub’ if anything as the delay lasted for 10 minutes. On resumption, the Australian would win only one point, and admitted afterward he lost all his momentum.
While there is no doubt that the Spaniard was physically hampered, especially as he lost his footing when he set up match point and appeared to exacerbate the issue. Millman still retains a friendly relationship with the Spaniard having known each other for quite some time, and was only irked by the timing of it.

Big-serving Rinderknech Could Pose Questions
Arthur Rinderknech has served his way into the second round in Bastad after dismantling Portugal’s Pedro Sousa 6-1 6-1 in precisely an hour.
Rinderknech had navigated his way into the main draw following two solid wins in qualifying. He beat Oscar Gutierrez and Thomas Fabbiano without dropping a set.
And the Frenchman was a colossal presence in his routine win over Sousa. His serve in particular, which is his strongest point, was destructive. He fired five aces, and won 86% of first-serve points (23/27), dropping just four points behind it. He also broke Sousa five times in the match.
Rinderknech has been on a steep climb in the rankings in the last 18 months. When the pandemic hit in March last year, the 25-year-old was in the form of his life having captured two Challenger titles. And he didn’t lose his self-drive on resumption.
He won his third ATP Challenger crown in Istanbul at the end of January and successfully reached the main draws of both the French Open and Wimbledon. These results have catapulted in his rise to within a touching distance of the top 100 (currently at a career-high 105th).
Millman v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip
Millman’s counterpunching abilities will come in handy on clay, but Rinderknech is such a dominant force behind his first serve. If the Frenchman has another field day on serve, he should win comfortably.
Tip: Rinderknech to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
