Greet Minnen v Anastasia Gasanova Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Minnen Dispatches Monticone
Greet Minnen, in the opening match of the Prague Open, defeated the Italian Giulia Gatto-Monticone 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 in an hour and 52 minutes.
Purely in terms of numbers, the 23-year-old Belgian has had quite a season with a win-loss tally of 20-14. That said, most of her victories have come mainly in the qualifying/early rounds.
For instance, in the Australian Open, she lost her opening-round match to Petra Kvitova but only after winning all three of her qualifying matches in the preceding weekend. Oddly enough, it was the same story in the French Open too – a first-round defeat to Kvitova after clearing the qualifiers. And the same thing happened in Wimbledon most recently except this time, Minnen fell to Ajla Tomljanovic in the main draw.
Between these majors, Minnen also featured in a few ITF events where the best she did was reaching the third round.

Gasanova Makes the Most of Her Chance
Anastasia Gasanova originally started in the Prague Open as a qualifier but lost to Jodie Burrage in her final qualifying game in straight sets. However, by the virtue of the Lucky Loser rule, the Russian earned a ticket to the main draw.
She found herself facing the Czech Lucie Havlíčková and needed two hours and 15 minutes to win the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
This is, by far, the best run Gasanova has delivered since reaching the quartets in the St. Petersburg Trophy, again as a qualifier. En route, she upset the rising star Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova by winning the two sets in a tie-break before ultimately losing to Vera Zvonareva.
The 22-year-old also had a similar spell in Abu Dhabi where the then #292-ranked player stunned Karolina Pliskova to make a third-round cameo against Sara Sorribes Tormo. While she lost that match, that performance allowed Gasanova to move closer to the top 200.
Minnen v Gasanova Prediction and Tip
Both players are coming in this match on the back of a rather similar form. This can very well go either way but one thing seems certain – neither of them will back down easy.
