Pablo Carreno Busta v Dusan Lajovic Head to Head

Carreno Busta Beats Compatriot Taberner
Pablo Carreno Busta was too strong and incisive for his countryman Carlos Taberner, as he won their Round of 16 clash in straight sets to advance.
Both players succumbed to nerves in the early goings with two breaks apiece. But Carreno Busta decided to up the ante towards the end of the set by conjuring another service break in game 12. The World No. 13 wrapped up the first set committing a mere five unforced errors.
In the second set, Taberner made a strong start as he stormed to take a 2-0 lead. But Carreno Busta saved a crucial breakpoint to stay within touching at 2-1 and then went on to win the next four games. He closed out victory on his own terms and on his own serve.
Carreno Busta has a very good record in Hamburg. In his three previous visits, he has reached the quarterfinal once in 2018 and the semifinals in 2019.
With the victory over his compatriot Taberner, Carreno Busta improves his record for the season to 20-9 (with 14 wins coming on clay) and is seeking his second title of the year after capturing the Marbella crown in April.

Lajovic Too Good for Molcan
Alex Molcan has been a revelation this season and is getting closer to equal his career-best ranking of World No. 158 which he achieved from reaching the final of the Prostejov Challenger.
Molcan had initially caught the eye of the occasional tennis watcher when he produced an eye-catching run to the finals of Belgrade 2 as a qualifier, beating the likes of Fernando Verdasco and Federico Delbonis before losing to Novak Djokovic.
And in Hamburg, it was another Serbian who was the chief tormentor. Dusan Lajovic took the first set 6-4 in their Round of 16 match against the run of play. The lefthanded Slovak was rewarded for his perseverance and deservedly levelled in the second-set tiebreak.
But it was the 31-year-old Serb who the steadier performer in the deciding set, garnering the solitary break of serve in game six.
