Danielle Collins v Maddison Inglis Head to Head

This will be their second meeting on the WTA Tour. They last met in WTA Sydney qualifiers in 2019 – Collins won that match in straight sets.

Collins Primed for another Deep Run

27-year-old Danielle Collins arrived in Palermo on the heels of a semifinal run in the Hungarian Grand Prix last week. She could have reached the final but was forced to retire against Anhelina Kalinina in the second set in the semis.

If she wins the upcoming match against Inglis, it would be her third consecutive quarterfinal on the tour which in itself speaks about her consistency. Moreover, Collins also had a couple of deep runs in the Yarra Valley Classic and Phillip Island Trophy earlier in the season.

The number one seed has performed as if it is business as usual so far in Palermo. In the opener, she dispatched the German qualifier Katharina Gerlach 7-5, 6-3 to reach the second round.

The 2019 Australian Open semifinalist has had a rather decent season on the whole – what it needs now is a title or two to truly bring it together. And by all means, it may happen sooner than later. Over the last couple of years, the current World No. 44 has shown glimpses of brilliance and it may just be in Palermo that she finds her first breakthrough.

Inglis Moves Past Gatto-Monticone

Maddison Inglis, in her first-round match of the Palermo Open, defeated the Italian Giulia Gatto-Monticone 6-2, 6-3. This win laid the path for what will be her first WTA second-round appearance since the Adelaide International this year.

Between the two events, the 23-year-old Aussie played in a mix of Challenger and low-tier events but didn’t find much success in either as she lost in the qualifying/early rounds. It is also worth noting that Inglis didn’t any play professional tennis from March through to May.

All things considered, it is hard to imagine Inglis defeat Collins, especially when we see that she has fallen to players ranked far below the American.

Collins v Inglis Prediction and Tip

Keeping aside any injuries or health concerns, Collins should be able to win this match in straight sets and reach the quarters.
