Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova v Sara Errani Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings on the WTA circuit between these two players and Pavlyuchenkova has won three of them to Errani’s two. Interestingly, Errani’s wins have come on hard court surfaces, traditionally not her most favourite.
Their most recent match, however, came four years ago in Rabat where Pavlyuchenkova won to make it to the title-decider.

Pavlyuchenkova Hoping to Carry French Open Form Forward
It was a middling sort of a start to the season for Pavlyuchenkova before it boomeranged into something nearly sensational at Roland Garros.
The Russian, who has been playing Grand Slam tennis since 2007 but never got past the quarterfinal stage, made it to the final at French Open before losing to Barbora Krejcikova. She had earlier made it to the semifinal at Madrid Open as well.
Where Pavlyuchenkova could face an issue is her record on hard court surfaces this season hasn’t been the best.
She has played in seven of them, including one indoors at home in St. Petersburg, but won just four matches in total. Which is also why it would be tough to assess how far will Pavlyuchenkova go in this Olympics even as she faces an interesting challenge in her opener here.

Errani Struggling to Get Going in 2021
There have been the odd set of results which have gone in favour of Errani this season but other than a quarterfinal in Parma and Hamburg, things haven’t quite been the best for the Italian.
Her best showing in 2021, however, did come in a hard court tournament, at Australian Open where she reached the third round. Unfortunately for Errani, other than that she featured in five hard court competitions and won nothing.
Not even a qualifying round, falling to Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Harriet Dart and Ankita Raina in different tournaments.
So while Pavlyuchenkova has had her own struggles on this surface, Errani’s overshadow her by a mile and could make things rather difficult for the Italian.
Pavlyuchenkova v Errani Prediction and Tip
This won’t be too difficult for Pavlyuchenkova by the looks of things and we expect the Russian to come through in straight sets.
Tip: Pavlyuchenkova to win in straight sets: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
