Maryna Zanevska v Kristína Kučová Head to Head

This has been a long-standing rivalry at the lower circuit and qualifiers of WTA tournaments. Zanevska has won four of her five matches against Kucova including three at Grand Slam qualifiers.

Zanevska Continues Red-Hot Form

More a doubles specialist having reached the final of four such tournaments on the WTA circuit, Zanevska has turned her attention to singles in recent times. And it’s this year she looks to have found her mojo on the circuit.

While Zanevska has been winning her fair share of tournaments on the ITF circuit, this will be her chance to do that for the first time on the WTA circuit.

And it’s not been a flash in the pan either, with Zanevska having made the semifinal last week in Lausanne, where she lost to Tamara Zidansek. Here, in the semifinal stage, Zanevska overcame Kateryna Kozlova in three sets to finally make it to the final.

In a match lasting two hours and three minutes, Zanevska dropped her first set of the tournament before coming through 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 and enter the title-decider.

Can she finally clinch the win she has been waiting for for years?

Kučová Stuns Korpatsch in Semis

It’s not been the easiest journey for Kucova but she has found her way to get through four successive matches and make it to her first ever career final on the WTA circuit.

Her latest victim was Tamara Korpatsch whom she defeated in straight sets, crushing her opponent 6-0, 6-3. It was a much needed result for Kucova, who had come into the match on the back of one of the most thrilling, but equally gruelling matches of the tournament.

Kucova had three tie-breakers against Ekaterina Gorgodze to make it through, overcoming four match-points in the encounter to win it.

It’s her ability to stay resilient in a battle and also take the attack to the opposition when she can, as has been on display in the quarterfinal and semifinal respectively, which could allow Kucova to go into this final with some confidence.
