Sam Querrey v Peter Gojowczyk Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2018 Rome Masters where Gojowczyk took Querrey in straight sets in that opening round match.

Querrey Continues His Ongoing Struggles
There was an appearance in the final of Mallorca Open last month for Querrey but other than that his performances have been surprisingly underwhelming. And in more recent times, Querrey’s results on hard court surfaces have taken a turn for the worse.
Like this season itself, Querrey has won just two matches in five hard court tournaments, which includes three successive first round exits leading up to this one.
After losing his openers at Australian Open and Miami Open, Querrey looked to have found some of his rhythm back on grass but then began another string of poor results. At Wimbledon, he was bundled out in the second round before following up with opening defeats in Newport and Los Cabos.
Can he now find a way to extricate himself from the mess he finds himself in and turn things around in the lead-up to US Open.

Gojowczyk Qualifies to Main Draw Easily
It’s interesting to see Gojowczyk will be playing in only his third outdoor hard court tournament of the season here.
The first saw him get knocked out in the first round of the Australian Open qualifiers, and then last week Gojowczyk won just five games in his defeat to Illya Marchenko in his opener at Los Cabos.
In short, Gojowczyk has barely had a lot of tennis on this surface and if Querrey’s struggles this season are well-chronicled, so are the German’s on this surface. The difference lies in the way Gojowczyk has played indoors on hard courts.
As a qualifier in Montpellier, he made it all the way to the semifinal, and had another semifinal appearance in a Challenger tournament on the same surface.
Add to the fact Gojowczyk has won a couple of qualifying rounds here in Atlanta and done that with ease, we could be looking a solid fight for a rare place in second round.
Querrey v Gojowczyk Prediction and Tip
This has Querrey as a favourite at 4/6 but Gojowczyk could have his moments in this one. Might see a third set with Gojowczyk edging the contest.
Tip: Gojowczyk to win in three sets: 4/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
