Laslo Djere v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 26-year old Serb, and the German, who is four years younger.

In April Djere reached his third senior ATP final in Sardinia, finishing runner-up to Marco Cecchinato after a three set battle.

He was trying to defend the title he had won the previous year, with his first success coming in Rio in 2019. All of those finals have come on clay, his favourite surface, as evidenced by the fact that he has also won 10 tournaments on the junior tours on it.

Since that run in Italy, he made the quarter-finals in Geneva, and then reached the third round of the French Open for the second time, matching his best in a Grand Slam event.

Subsequent to that he reached the semi-finals in Hamburg before losing to compatriot Filip Krajinovic, and then, last week in Gstaad, again got to the last four before losing to Hugo Gaston of France.

Altmaier Wins First Challenger Title

Shoulder and hip injuries have hindered Altmaier’s progress, since making his ATP main draw debut as a qualifier at the Geneva Open in 2017.

However, last year, he qualified for his first Grand Slam at the French Open, and enjoyed a surprise run to the fourth round, claiming some notable scalps along the way in the form of compatriot and number 30 seed Jan Lennard Struff, and the number seven seed (and recent Wimbledon finalist) Matteo Berrettini.

He spends most oi his time on the junior tours, winning his first Challenger event earlier this month on home soil in Braunschweig.

In terms of the main tour this year for the events in Geneva and Parma, but then was beaten in the first round on each occasion.

More recently he was given wildcards to his two “home” events of Halle and Hamburg, but again suffered frit round defeats.
