Berankis v Sock Head to Head
Berankis won their only previous meeting at Delray Beach in 2013.

Berankis In Poor Form
Ever since making a maiden third round appearance at the French Open, Lithuania’s Ricardas Berankis has lost all three first round-matches on the tour and thus heads to Atlanta in poor form.
The 31-year-old, who has a career record of 98-90 on hard courts is 4-3 on the surface this year and will be delighted to be back on his favourite surface. He has had very little returns from clay and grass courts but a winning record at the highest level on hard court suggests he has the ability to deliver results consitently.
In all the three hard court events that he featured in this year, Berankis has won at least a match in each of them.
An 8-11 overall record isn’t too encouraging for the World no. 84, but he will be looking to draw from his previous experiences in Atlanta, where he has a 4-5 record from five previous appearances and was a quarterfinalist in 2016.

Sock on a Comeback Mission
Injuries, loss of form, lockdown all combined to bring Jack Sock down from a career-high ranking of No. 8 in 2018 to his current ranking of 201.
Now with almost everything in place again, the 28-year-old will be hoping to climb back the rankings, and having done well in Newport two weeks ago he will be confident of delivering in Atlanta as well.
A doubles champion in Atlanta in 2014, Sock will be making a seventh appearance in the tournament. He is 6-6 so far from the previous six efforts, which includes a semifinal finish in 2014.
Sock, who has mostly featured on the Challenger Tour over the last two years, won the Indian Wells Challenger in 2020 and another this year in Little Rock.
In Newport, his first tour-level event of the year, Sock defeated Alex Bolt and Yoshihito Nishioka before falling to Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinals.
Coming into the tournament with some solid performances behind him, Sock will be hoping to take another step towards regaining the lost touch that once saw him reach eight ATP finals and win four titles.
Berankis v Sock Prediction and Tip
It’s been a while that Berankis has played on hard courts, while Sock’s already in decent touch on the surface. Also, Berankis couldn’t complete his first round match at Hamburg having to retire with an injury against Benoit Paire. So it will be a tough ask for the Lithuanian coming back from an injury. Expect Sock to advance.
