Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova v Belinda Bencic Head to Head
The two players have quite a bit of history between them, having met several times in singles and doubles matches.
In the singles discipline, Bencic leads Pavlyuchenkov 4-2 and has won three of their last four meetings on the WTA Tour.
Their last match took place in the 2020 WTA Dubai – back then, the Russian picked up her second win over Bencic, defeating her 1-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Bencic Survives Krejcikova
Belinda Bencic has effectively cleared the field here in Tokyo by knocking out the in-form, imperious Czech Barbora Krejcikova in the third round.
The 24-year-old Swiss needed an hour and 54 minutes to defeat the World No. 11 Krejickova with 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. It was certainly an impressive performance by the number nine seed Bencic, who has now joined the likes of other players to have delivered stunning upsets in the Olympics thus far.
In fact, considering the season she has had in 2021, it isn’t surprising to see her play so well in the Summer Games this year. Bencic reached two singles finals on the tour – the Adelaide International and the German Open – her first such run since the 2019 Kremlin Cup. That said, the Swiss has also had her fair share of tournaments where she has succumbed in the early rounds.
Having peaked at World No. 4 last year in the singles ranking, Bencic obviously has the necessary skill set to reach the semis and possibly secure a medal in Tokyo.

Pavlyuchenkova Yet to Drop a Set
2020 French Open runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain with 6-1, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinal. Having won her opening few rounds in straight-sets as well, the 30-year-old Russian looks confident of continuing that run.
However, she will now face her toughest test in this year’s Olympics yet against Bencic.
Following her run in Paris, Pavlyuchenkova’s form took a slight hit as she lost in the first round of the Eastbourne International and the third round of the Wimbledon Championships. The same has been the case for most of her season except the clay swing where she found her groove.
Over the course of her career, she has picked up 12 singles titles and 9 runner-up trophies. With that, she has also beaten many top 10 players like Ashleigh Barty, Angelique Kerber, Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova, among others. Clearly, Pavlyuchenkova is not a player to be taken lightly and on her best day, there is no stopping her.
Pavlyuchenkova v Bencic Prediction and Tip
This game can pretty much go anywhere but if we had to pick a favourite, it would have to be Pavlyuchenkova solely on account of her slightly superior experience.
