Kevin Anderson v Jenson Brooksby Head to Head
Veteran South African star Kevin Anderson and his young American rival Jenson Brooksby have been involved in just one head-to-head clash till date. The pair battled each other in the final of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, US, with Anderson prevailing in straight sets.

Though only a slip of the player that he once was, Kevin Anderson showed he still has it in him to win titles as he tamed Jenson Brooksby in straight sets to rise atop the champions podium at the Newport event.
Coming into the Atlanta Open straight after, the 35-year-old South African, bowed out in the opening round after falling to a straight-set defeat to maverick Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios.
Currently in the 75th place in singles, Anderson only other notable run apart from the Newport was at the Estoril Open where he finished in the quarter-finals.
The veteran South African failed to work his old magic at this year’s Wimbledon Championships, going down in straight sets in the second round to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
Though Anderson took some bold strides down redemption road by lifting the Newport title, the loss against Kyrgios in Atlanta was a slip-up he could ill afford in his quest to salvage a less-than-fulfilling season.
This is where the Washington opener assumes significance as the lanky 35-year-old would look to regain his form ahead of the all-important US Open.

Brooksby Hoping to Pick Up from Newport
Though ranked comfortably outside the Top-100 in singles currently, Jenson Brooksby played out of his skin to surge to the tournament final at Newport.
Though he fell at the final hurdle against Anderson, the opening clash at Washington presents an opportunity for the unheralded American to avenge his Newport defeat.
Coming off two straight wins at the Challenger event in Lexington, US, Brooksby could be in the mood to make some serious waves in the capital city.
