Kyrgios Begins Title Defense
With the Covid-19 pandemic hiatus canceling the 2020 Citi Open, it seems a while since Nick Kyrgios won this tournament the last time it was played back in 2019, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semis and Daniil Medvedev in the title round.
At the start of the 2021 season, the Aussie featured at the ATP 250 in Melbourne and then at the Aussie Open and put up an inspired performance at both tournaments.
After taking a break from the tour for a mixed bunch of reasons, Kyrgios returned to the tour at Wimbledon where he surprised Ugo Humbert in the opener and eased past Gianluca Mager in the second before retiring from his third round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime because of injury.
Kyrgios returned to the hard courts this week in Atlanta where he prevailed in the opener against two-time major runner-up Kevin Anderson but then lost in straight sets to Los Cabos winner Cameron Norrie.
It is difficult to predict how well or how far the defending champion will go in the draw, but he is not one to be ruled out and can never fail to surprise all including himself ever so often.

McDonald Aiming For Promising US Open Series
American Mackenzie McDonald prefers playing on hard courts, and a run to the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year is a testament to that.
The American had a none too impressive run on the other surfaces as well, reaching the second round of the French Open as a qualifier and and also making the main draw at Wimbledon, after winning all three qualifiers, but fell in the opener.
A three-time Challenger and two-time Futures winner, all five of McDonald’s triumphs have come on hard courts and he will be looking to leave a mark on the US Open Series this time around.
It has not been the best couple of weeks since Wimbledon for the American with opening round losses at Cabos and Atlanta in the last fortnight and he will hoping he can start course correcting beginning this week here at the US capital.
Kyrgios v McDonald Prediction and Tip
As is always the case with any match involving Nick Kyrgios, it depends on which version of the Aussie shows up. Kyrgios starts as a strong favorite here, is the defending champion as well and should see the American through in straight sets.
Tip: Kyrgios to win in straight sets: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
