Cameron Norrie v Marcos Giron Head to Head

British star Cameron Norrie and his American rival Marcos Giron have not been involved in a career head-to-head meeting till date. However, fresh from lifting his maiden Tour title, Norrie should fancy opening a lead over the American in their first-ever cash against each other.

Norrie Reached Atlanta QF

Ranked just inside the Top-30 in singles currently, Norrie lifted his maiden Tour title at Los Cabos, rising from the disappointment of finishing second-best to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini at the Lyon and Queen’s Club finals this year.

The ever-improving British star, who recorded third-round finishes at all three Grand Slams — Australian Open, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon Championships — upstaged American Next-Gen stars Taylor Fritz and Brandon Nakashima in the semifinal and final to seal his first championship win at Los Cabos.

The Briton has shown his all-court skills with decent returns across surfaces this year and his lion-hearted effort against eight-time champion Roger Federer at Wimbledon, albeit ending in defeat, won him a lot of admirers.

Norrie ran into another modern-day stalwart in Rafael Nadal in the third round at Roland-Garros. Though he fell to a straight-set defeat to the 13-time champion, he was far from disgraced.

Even at Atlanta, he went down fighting to Finnish star Emil Ruusuvuori in the quarter-finals.

The Washington Open brings him a chance to add to his gains from Los Cabos and put himself among the favorites at the US Open.

Giron Fights Past Marchenko

Currently ranked 64th in singles, Giron opened his Washington campaign with a hard-fought victory over Illya Marchenko of Ukraine.

After losing the opening set 4-6 to the Ukrainian, the 28-year-old American staged a tremendous fightback to take the second by a similar margin before pipping Marchenko in the decider.

Though the deciding set went to a tiebreak, the American raced home 7-1 to close out a three-set victory.

Earlier, Giron fared creditably at the Noventi Open in Halle, Germany, reaching the quarter-final before falling to Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.

He reached the third round at Roland-Garros and lost to Huber Hurkacz of Poland in the second round at Wimbledon.

However, he faces a tough battle against Norrie for a place in the last-16 at Washington.

Norrie v Giron Prediction and Tip

Though the two have never played each other before, Norrie, on current form, shouldn’t have trouble going past Giron in the third round at Washington. However, Giron is quite capable of springing a surprise on the Briton.

Tip: Norrie to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
