Bogdan was quickly off the starting line, racing away to a 4-0 lead in the opening set before she dropped her serve for the first time. That didn’t matter too much as Bogdan then broke back to complete the opening set victory.
The second set began with an exchange of breaks but Bogdan took the decisive lead by breaking Udvardy in the third game and taking a 3-1 lead. There was no looking back after that as Bogdan held on for the rest of the set to seal the win.

Qualifier Krunic Registers Easy Opening Win
Having eased into the main draw of the competition with back to back straight-set wins in the qualifiers, Krunic did not waste any time in making it past Yuki Naito in her opening round encounter.
Krunic was leading 6-3, 5-0 when Naito retired from the encounter, an hour and 21 minutes into the contest.
The first set began on an even keel for the two players who shared four breaks of serves to take it to 3-3, but that was till about where Naito gave Krunic a fight. Krunic ran away with the next eight games in a row to seal off the victory as Naito retired from the contest.
Rather interestingly, it was Krunic’s first main draw win of the season. Can she now make it two in two?
