Magda Linette v Nadia Podoroska Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the 2017 Bogota Open where Linette won their first round in straight sets.

Linette Hoping for Resurrection after San Jose Show

After having made an ordinary start to the season, Linette has done well in recent times not to mention her showing at San Jose Open last week.

Linette made it to the quarterfinal there with wins over Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove and Petra Martic before falling in a fighting three-setter to Daria Kasatkina.

And that hasn’t been her best performance either, having entered the third round at both French Open and Wimbledon following on from a semifinal at Strasbourg Open.

The question then is how will Linette go on the hard courts of Canada, and her overall record on this surface isn’t too bad. The Polish player is 3-3 this season on hard court, but had won the Hua Hin Open last season and reached third round at US Open as well.

Can she now take down her in-form Argentinian opponent?

Podoroska Made Third Round at Olympics

Having qualified to feature at the Tokyo Olympics, Podoroska made two stunning upsets in the competition before losing in the third round at the competition.

Wins over Yulia Putintseva and Ekaterina Alexandrova when she had gone into them at 6/4 and 9/4 underdog for wins would have boosted her morale no ends before the 38th-ranked player fell to Paula Badosa in the third.

Earlier this season, Podoroska’s best performance on hard court surface came at Yarra Valley Classic where she was a losing quarterfinalist after winning three successive rounds and even that included a win over Petra Kvitova.

And this comes on the back of two titles on the ITF circuit last season to go with a semifinal appearance at Newport Beach Open.

Can she now stop Linette in her tracks?

Linette v Podoroska Prediction and Tip

This could get to become an interesting contest that lasts the full distance, going into the third set. Gunning for a Podoroska win though.
