Sebastian Korda v Yoshihito Nishioka Head to Head
Korda won their only previous meeting, beating Nishioka in the quarterfinals in Parma earlier this year.

Korda Out to Impress on Debut
His return to hard courts in Washington last week, didn’t quite go as well as he would have liked, but he will take heart from the fact that he put up a gallant performance against doubles partner Jannik Sinner before exiting from the second round.
Korda, who defeated Vasek Pospisil 7-5, 6-4 in the first round, lost to the Italian in two tiebreaks in the second round, but it was a courageous performance from the 21-year-old to come back from two breaks down to force the tiebreak in the second set.
It’s a year when Korda has played some remarkable tennis to break into the top 100 and rise to the current ranking of 45.
The American began the season by finishing runner-up at the Delray Beach Open and then made an astonishing run to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open. He continued to impress on clay, clinching his first career title in Parma, without dropping a set the entire week, and then made an impact on grass, reaching the Round of 16 on his Wimbledon debut, before bowing out after a dramatic five-set loss to Kare Khachanov.
He will be hoping to make an impression in Canada with another deep run.

Nishioka Has Struggled on Hard Courts This Year
Having failed to go past the first round in singles and doubles at his home Olympics, Yoshihito Nishioka will be happy to have qualified for the Canadian Open.
The 25-year-old left-hander defeated America’s Michael Mmoh 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in the first qualifying round on Saturday and then knocked out Feliciano Lopez 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) in a tough second qualifying match on Sunday. The Japanese withstood 14 aces from Lopez, while saving six of seven break points and converting two of eight in the two-and-a-half-hour contest.
Nishioka is 2-5 in the main draws since making back-to-back quarterfinals in Lyon and Parma. Overall, the 25-year-old is 9-16 this year.
He was pretty good on clay, but has struggled immensely on hard courts, winning just two matches on the surface this season, with both of those wins coming in Singapore, where he was a quarterfinalist. Apart from those two wins he has lost all five of his first-round matches on hard courts this year, besides losing both his matches at the ATP Cup.
Korda v Nishioka Prediction and Tip
Korda is in great form and has been fantastic on all courts this season. He will be the favourite to win this contest and advance into the next round.
