Donna Vekic v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head
Vekic and Van Uytvanck have played once before in Madrid 2014, with the Croat winning the 3-set encounter 1-6 6-2 6-4.

What Can We Expect from Vekic?
Vekic has struggled to string together consistently solid performances this year, however she has produced good performances since her return to the tour at the start of June, recording wins against Sabalenka and Garcia in Tokyo before losing to Rybakina. The Croat failed to build on this, suffering a first-round exit to Putintseva 7-5 6-3.
Earlier in the year, the 25-year-old made an impressive fourth round run at the Australian Open before losing in straight sets to America’s Brady.
Vekic then didn’t step onto the match court until the start of June after having surgery on her right knee at the end of February. Donna embarked on the road to recovery and eventually made her return at Roland Garros, falling to Karolina Pliskova in the first-round.
She travels to Montreal ranked 53rd and will be aiming to get back to the Top 20 ranking she once was. Belgium’s van Uytvanck stands in her way and her style of play has the capacity to rattle the Croat and affect her rhythm.

Van Utyvanck Knows How to Pull off An Upset
The Belgian had to come through qualifying where she successfully fended off Japan’s Ninomiya and in-form Niemeier to set-up the tie with Vekic.
The 27-year-old has been proving the threats she possesses taking Svitolina to 3-sets at Wimbledon and successfully overcoming Kvitova 6-0 in the third set at the Tokyo Olympics before being ousted by Spain’s Muguruza.
Prior to Wimbledon, Alison lifted the trophy at an ITF event in Nottingham, so the Belgian certainly knows how to go far in competitions. A win against Vekic would set up an encounter with the 4th seed, Karolina Pliskova.
Vekic has been a tad up and down in recent times, and van Uytvanck will look to take advantage of that at the moment.
Vekic v Van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip
This will likely be a close encounter and has the potential to go to 3-sets with Van Uytvanck being the slight favourite to advance to the second round.
