Millman Downs Lithuanian Qualifier

Millman  had played himself into some sort of form by reaching the third round in Washington last week and he continued his revival with a  straight sets win over the world number 84 and qualifier, Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania.

Millman made a strong start, breaking Berankis in his opening service game and then forcing him to defend four more break points the next time he was on serve. With the Lithuanian unable to apply any pressure on the Australian’s serve, Millman was able to ease through the first set.

And when Berankis was broken at the start of the second set, his hopes began to recede.

However, after the pair swapped breaks, they were revived after he saved two match points and then recovered the break, meaning that a tie-break was needed.

The Australian though, earned himself another match point, and this time he made it count.
