Danielle Collins v Jessica Pegula Head to Head
Pegula leads Collins 2-0 although, their last match took place more than five years ago in the 2016 Charlottesville.

Collins Overcomes Halep
27-year-old Danielle Collins arrived in Montreal on the back of consecutive title runs in the Palermo Ladies Open and the Silicon Valley Classic. She has done well to extend that 10-match winning streak to 12 with wins over Jill Teichmann and most recently, against the former World No. 1 Simona Halep.
Both of those matches were three-setters and saw Collins drop the first set to stage a comeback. She defeated Halep 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the third round in the Canadian Open.
Currently ranked World No. 28, Collins is now eyeing her third WTA singles title on the tour and is also well on the way to stake her claim in the coming tournaments. Over the course of the season, the American has shown a strong proclivity to perform in hard-court tournaments. Earlier in the year, she was a quarterfinalist in the Yarra Valley Classic and Adelaide International, and a semifinalist in the Phillip Island Trophy.
Then, in the tournaments preceding her trophy campaigns, Collins reached the penultimate rounds once again in WTA Hamburg and Budapest.

Pegula Finding her Rhythm in Montreal
World No. 30 Jessica Pegula started her run in the Canadian Open on a similar note to Collins’ – she too won her opening rounds in three sets after dropping the first one.
In the first match, she defeated Anett Kotnaveit 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 while in the second, she moved past the French Open runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. These results mark her best run on the tour since reaching the quarterfinal in Bett1Open.
Even though 27-year-old Pegula is yet to win a singles title yet, she will be pleased with the season she has had so far. Just like Collins, she has done well on the hard courts – notably reaching the fourth round in the Yarra Valley Classic and Miami Open, the quarterfinal in WTA Dubai and Australian Open, and the semifinal in the WTA Doha.
To put it differently, Pegula started the year outside the top 60 but is now ranked #30. In 2021, she has successfully moved past several prominent players like Victoria Azarenka, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, and Naomi Osaka.
Collins v Pegula Prediction and Tip
This will be an entertaining game. Both players are evenly matched and have got the means to defeat each other. Collins, however, will start as the odds-on favourite owing to her imperious form and streak.
