Alex De Minaur v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

Alex De Minaur and Filip Krajinovic have never played each other before. However, both have the reputation of being fierce competitors on the men’s circuit and it should be fascinating to watch them go head-to-head for the very first time.

De Minaur Coming off Basilashvili Defeat

Considered as one of the fastest movers and retrievers on the tennis court, De Minaur’s forward strides through the echelons of men’s tennis has been slowed somewhat since Wimbledon this year.

Since crashing out in the first round at All England after losing to rising American star Sebastian Korda, the 22-year-old Australian followed up with opening round defeats in Washington and Toronto.

Hoping to give a better account of himself on the preferred hard court after being pipped to the finish line by American Steve Johnson in Washington, De Minaur set himself rolling at the Canadian Open with an opening-round outing against big-hitting Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili.

However, the current World No. 18 simply had no answer to the Georgian’s power game as he crashed to an embarrassing 1-6, 1-6 defeat to bow out of the tournament.

Travelling to Cincinnati next in the quest of redemption, the fleet-footed Aussie faces a tough opponent in Krajinovic in his opening fixture.

A tenacious and hard-knuckled competitor, the Serbian isn’t an opponent who could be easily overcome and De Minaur will have to be at his best to get over the line.

Krajinovic Recorded Quarterfinal Finishes Recent Times

Currently ranked 33rd in singles, Krajinovic will go into the Cincinnati Masters on the back of two straight quarter-final finishes at the Austrian Open and the Croatia Open.

While his run at Kitzbuhel, Austria, was brought to an end by emerging Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, the Serbian went down fighting to Spanish teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz in an absorbing last-eight fixture in Croatia.

However, he finished runner-up at the German Open, which preceded the afore-mentioned two events, following a sensational run that saw him upset current World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals.

While he would open his Cincinnati campaign with some bit of form and confidence under his belt, it still doesn’t guarantee a win against an opponent who, at 22, already has five Tour titles to his name.

De Minaur v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip

While they have not been involved in any head-to-head meetings before, De Minaur and Krajinovic will have seen enough of each other on the circuit and should live up to the hype of a pulsating finish in this opening-round fixture.

On current form, one would have to put the Serbian slightly ahead in the contest. But De Minaur, at his best, would be hard for Krajinovic to stop.
