Roberto Bautista Agut v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head
Bautista Agut and Grigor Dimitrov have played six times throughout their rivalry which dates back to the 2008 Futures tournament. The Bulgarian has a 4-2 lead – each of his four wins coming on hardcourts (including indoors). But the pair have not played each other since the 2018 season.

Bautista Agut Falls to Opelka in Canada
As the 2021 season nears its completion, Roberto Bautista Agut is still chasing his first ATP tour title of the season. He had reached two finals this year (Montpellier and Doha), but failed to cross the finish line.
The Spaniard arrived at last week’s Toronto Masters on the back of a three-match winless streak but bounced back superbly to claim victories over Tommy Paul and Diego Schwartzman en route to the quarterfinals. Although he fell to the in-form Reilly Opelka, he retained his ranking points from the 2019 season (also a quarterfinal in Montreal).
Bautista Agut has been an evergreen presence inside the top world’s 20 for many years. He has achieved a year-end top-20 ranking in each of the last five seasons and has a decent chance of maintaining that streak intact for the last few months of the 2021 season.
The 33-year-old is a former quarterfinalist in Cincinnati and is seeded 13th this year. He will open up against a man he hasn’t beaten for over seven years.

Dimitrov Far From Perfect
Grigor Dimitrov’s form has been subpar, to say the least. He is among a handful of names who have benefitted from the rankings freeze due to COVID-19.
It is precisely four months since the Bulgarian managed to win back-to-back matches on the ATP tour (Monte Carlo Masters), and his middling run of results has seen him notch two wins from a possible 10. Hardly a record that mirrors a player ranked comfortably at No. 21.
The former World No. 3 has done most of his good work in the first half of the season. He made three straight quarterfinals including one at this year’s Australian Open. And his record in Cincinnati should fill him with plenty of optimism ahead of a first collision with Bautista Agut in three years.
Dimtrov, like Bautista Agut, was beaten by Reilly Opelka in the second round of the Canadian Masters last week.
Bautista Agut v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip
Dimitrov has an excellent record in Cincy. He is a former champion at this event, and also managed to reach a semifinal down the years. But he has been woefully out of form for the best part of four months. It is tough to look past the Spaniard in this one.
